Cross Country (XC)
The UCI Elite and Elite Junior races will feature the same course that set the bar for domestic mountain bike racing in 2011. Amateur and age group racers will have the opportunity to experience the new, bike-optimized singletrack that we at MTB Missoula have been hard at work to develop over the last two years.
The UCI Course covers 5k and features nearly 1,000 feet of climbing per lap. The base area is located 3,500 feet above sea level, and frequent grade reversals insist that riders stay focused. Intermittent road sections allow for ample passing on climbing segments, while the fast, steep descent only provides a couple of opportunities to overtake other racers.
The Amateur and Age Group course features portions of the UCI Elite course, as well as several miles of new, purpose-built singletrack. This course is approximately 6 miles and is almost entirely fun, flowy singletrack.
Short Track Cross Country (STXC)
The Short Track Cross Country course is unchanged from 2016. It features plenty of passing, ripping singletrack, and just enough climbing to keep everyone honest. Expect lap times to be between 2 and 2.5 minutes.
